Sometimes it can happen to us that when we enter a tracking number we say that it is “not available” or “incorrect”. What is the reason for that? The first thing you should know is that AliExpress is a reputable and trustworthy website, and that rarely will a seller maliciously provide you with an incorrect tracking number. Usually there is an explanation for this, so let’s now tell you the most common causes.
The most likely causes of tracking not working
It is an order under 5 euros
If the order placed is less than 5 euros, most likely shipping will be in the normal way. In this case, the shipment tracking will only inform us of the movement of the package while it is in China. You can distinguish these types of orders as their tracking usually starts with R and ends in CN.
The shipment tracking is done in Chinese format
If the order is more than € 5 but the tracking number is in the Chinese format described in the previous section (starts with R and ends with CN), this tracking number will change once it reaches UK or your country as each company has their own tracking number .
Entry failed
Make sure you entered the tracking number correctly. It is possible that when you copied, you also copied a character that does not belong to the trace, e.g. B. a space at the beginning or at the end.
There is a delay
Sometimes it may take a few days for the correct tracking number to appear due to the parcel company. We recommend that you be patient as some tracking numbers can take up to 15 days to display information. On Chinese holidays like Chinese New Year, which cripples the country completely, this delay can be even longer.
It’s a preliminary number
Some sellers are out of stock of the product and are temporarily giving you a false number to save days from being replenished. Whether this is the case can only be found out by asking the seller. If he realizes he is doing this, I recommend that you ask him for a deadline that it is in stock and he will ship you the order so you can see if it is worth the wait or if you have placed the order and Should you cancel an order this product from another seller.
If that date comes in and tracking is still wrong, assume we had a sloppy seller and that it is still a good idea to cancel the order. You can read our article on how to cancel orders on AliExpress.
The Seller has not yet Shipped the product
It is a similar case to the previous one. It is best to talk to the seller.
The number is falsified and / or copied by another buyer
The rarer, but not impossible, case is that the seller actually gave you a fake tracking number. This only happens to new sellers who are trying to mislead the seller and they usually give you another buyer’s number to mislead them. The most common way of recognizing this is that your order has been delivered to another city. If this happens to you, it is very important to take a screenshot of the follow-up in another city to attach to your dispute. Without this proof, you run the risk of AliExpress disagreeing with you.
What do I do if I don’t trust or they don’t answer me?
First of all: stay calm: The buyer protection is designed for these cases and as long as it is in effect, you have nothing to fear. If the seller doesn’t reply to us or their answer doesn’t convince us, you can open a dispute or contact AliExpress customer service via chat.
In the event of a dispute, you must provide all the necessary evidence to verify that something is indeed wrong. If this number is found to be incorrect, your money will be refunded within 3-15 days. After this time, if you see the refund on the AliExpress website or app but you have not received anything from the bank, contact the bank as they may sometimes withhold the money. In short, be patient: it is absolutely normal for the shipment tracking to be delayed and for the package to arrive at your home without any problems 99.9% of the time.
