What Does AIRLINE DEPARTURE Mean on AliExpress?

If you see “Departure from the airline” when you enter the tracking of your AliExpress order and you don’t really know what it means, we are going to explain it to you in detail today.

What does “Departure from the Airline” mean?

There are two ways an order arrives in your country: by air or by ship. If your parcel is sent by air freight, it will first be brought to the airport by the responsible logistics company (such as Sinotrans or Cainiao), where it is destined for your country.

At this point your package will have the status “Airline departure” until it reaches EE.UU or UK and customs clearance begins at the airport.

Do I have to do anything if my order has been this way for several days?

No, you don’t have to do anything. It’s a perfectly normal process that all orders go through. In our experience, it usually takes between one and one and a half weeks for it to change to the next status as soon as it shows up in “Airline departure“. Here is more information on what to do if your AliExpress order doesn’t move and you think it has been for too long.

What are the next steps?

As soon as your order arrives at the airport, customs clearance begins there. This expression can be scary, but there is no reason for it: most of the time the parcels go through this procedure without any problems and if the amount is less than 22 $ then you can completely worry because they are VAT exempt. In this post on Customs and VAT on AliExpress, we’ll explain this to you in more detail.

Customs brokers will be responsible for this and if all goes well (which is usually most of the time) Post will approve your package, take it to a bulk registration center (CAM) and your state order will show as “Arriving at Distribution Center”. For more information, see our article on arriving at the distribution center.

Is it necessary to check the tracking of my order on a daily basis?

It is not necessary that you look at how your order is going every day as it can be a little annoying at times, but we recommend checking how it is going at least once a week. While AliExpress shipments have gotten a lot easier and the more common it is to receive them in 2-3 weeks (or even less), it is important that you keep this in mind. If you click here, you can see the tracking of your order.

All shipments have a 75 day protection period, but if for any reason the package appears to have been delivered and you haven’t received anything, AliExpress will automatically close the status of your order and show it as delivered. From there you have 15 days to open a dispute. After this time, you can no longer assert any claims against the seller. That is why it is so important to pay attention.
